Jacksmith

by Flipline Studios
Jacksmith is a blacksmith simulation game where you forge weapons for warriors to rescue the princess. Hammer sharp blades and build strong handles to help your soldiers fight through monsters!

About Jacksmith

Set out for adventure with Jacksmith and his young apprentice Scout! Princess Liliana has been captured by the evil wizard Dudley, and Jacksmith is setting off to save her. There’s just one problem: he’s much better at making weapons than using them.

That’s where the local warriors come in. You run the traveling forge and make their equipment; they take on the monsters blocking the road. Give them weapons that last to help them through battle and work your way toward Dudley. There’s a princess waiting, and those swords won’t forge themselves!

How to play Jacksmith

Each day starts with weapon orders and ends with your soldiers putting your work to the test by fighting monsters.

Here’s how a day unfolds:

  1. Take an order. Each warrior needs a particular kind of weapon.
  2. Choose a mold and metal. Pick an unlocked weapon shape and the metal ore you’ll melt to make it.
  3. Craft the equipment. Heat and pour the metal, then shape the weapon and attach its parts.
  4. Join the battle. Collect dropped loot while your warriors fight. Fire cannonballs once you unlock them.
  5. Prepare for tomorrow. Use your rewards to buy supplies and build stronger equipment.

Controls

  • Crafting: Click to choose items and use the hammer. Hold and drag to work the bellows, pour metal and place parts.
  • Collecting loot: Move your mouse over dropped items.
  • Cannon: Click an unlocked cannonball’s button or press its number key, from 1 to 6.

Crafting weapons

At the start of each new day, Scout shows you which enemies are ahead and how many you’ll face. Use his report to choose the molds and parts that help against that day’s enemies.

After you open up shop, the kingdom’s soldiers will line up and start requesting weapons from you so they can fight the monsters ahead.

You have four crafting stations, so you can start another weapon while one heats. Check back before it overheats. Watch the temperature gauge and pour when the needle reaches the green area. Pull the chain slowly to avoid spilling metal.

Finishing the day’s orders quickly earns a gem bonus, but rushing to finish a weapon risks it having crooked parts and unevenly tempered metal, making the equipment weaker.

Types of weapons

You unlock these 6 weapon types as you travel across the land:

WeaponWhat you do
SwordsSpread your limited hammer strikes around the blade’s edges.
BowsStretch both arms into an even shape, then assemble the arrow.
AxesFit the blades and spike against the center, keeping them straight.
ShieldsPaint the whole surface without leaving gaps.
PikesHammer the blade’s edges, using the weapon’s shape as your guide.
MacesArrange the pegs or spikes to match the example picture.

Epic Weapons

Find Epic Weapon recipes by defeating all the monsters in a day. These recipes show the exact metal and parts you need to smith them. Making one gives every soldier in that day’s group a bonus, such as extra damage against Fire Enemies.

Adding elemental and stat boosts

Attach weapon parts with stat or elemental boosts to improve your equipment. Scout’s report shows which enemies you need to prepare for.

Elemental monsters first appear in Cinder Springs, after the Lowlands. A Fire Boost deals extra damage to Fire Enemies such as Pigroasts and Tindertulips.

Use these stats and elements to compare your weapon parts:

Stat or elementWhat it does
PowerThe weapon’s attack strength
DurabilityHow long a weapon lasts before breaking
LuckChance to make enemies drop more loot or better loot
FireFire Boosts only deal extra damage to Fire Enemies
WaterWater Boosts only deal extra damage to Water Enemies
IceIce Boosts only deal extra damage to Ice Enemies
StoneStone Boosts only deal extra damage to Stone Enemies
WindWind Boosts only deal extra damage to Wind Enemies
LightningLightning Boosts only deal extra damage to Lightning Enemies
PlantPlant Boosts only deal extra damage to Plant Enemies
ShadowShadow Boosts only deal extra damage to Shadow Enemies

Help the warriors reach the treasure chest!

Once you’ve completed all of the weapons, the warriors will take on the beasts! They fight automatically, but you still have work to do. Sweep your mouse over dropped loot to collect supplies for the next day.

Weapons wear down when soldiers use them and when enemies attack. When a weapon breaks, its soldier retreats. Better crafting gives your group more time to reach the chest at the end of the trail.

Cannonballs and bombs

Scout’s cannon gives you a way to help during battle. After firing, wait for that cannonball’s button to refill before using it again. These are the six options you unlock:

TypeWhat it does
CannonballDamages the enemy.
Fire BombBurns the enemy, dealing damage over time.
Repair BombRestores some durability to your soldiers’ weapons.
Electric BombDamages the enemy and temporarily reduces its attack power.
Booster BombTemporarily increases your soldiers’ attack power.
Ice BombFreezes the enemy briefly so it can’t fight back.

Use a Repair Bomb when weapon durability is low, before the weapons break and your soldiers retreat. Save a ready Ice Bomb for a dangerous enemy to give your group time to attack without taking a hit.

FAQ

Why do my soldiers run away?
Their weapons have run out of durability and broken. Straighter handles and better materials help equipment last longer.
How do I get better metal ores?
Collect ore during battles or buy it from Gander. Crafting stronger weapons also helps better ore appear in loot.
Can I choose which warriors join my group?
No. Warriors arrive with their own weapon requests. You choose their equipment’s mold, metal and parts.
Does Jacksmith end?
Once you rescue the princess, the main story is over. But you can keep playing to collect weapon designs and improve your crafting.
